Fastener selection

Select the screw for the roof-sheet build-up and supporting steel thickness. Check drill capacity, required screw length, thread engagement and the sealing-washer arrangement.

Installation control

Drive perpendicular to the roof surface and control seating pressure. Where an EPDM sealing washer is used, it should form a consistent seal without excessive compression or distortion.

Connection checks

Consider sheet profile, support thickness, connection location, pull-over and pull-out demand, washer diameter, corrosion exposure and compatibility with the roofing material.

What determines the correct screw length for metal roofing?

The required length depends on the roofing build-up, fixing position and the engagement needed in the supporting steel. Length and drilling capacity should be checked independently.

Why is the EPDM washer important on roofing screws?

The washer provides local sealing around the penetration. Correct seating is important: under-driving can leave a poor seal, while over-driving can damage or displace the washer.

Can one roofing screw be used for every purlin thickness?

No. The drill point and thread configuration must suit the actual supporting-steel thickness and the product documented drilling range.
